Imperial Empire

While at McDonalds (the downtown one isn't quite so sketchy BEFORE noon) yet again the Imperial Empire patch on my bag caught the eye of a geek/nerd.

I've come to the conclusion (3 years after the fact) that the patch was a good purchase.

Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is a good event for finding unique patches, t-shirts, toys, etc.

Now I'm only assuming the male who spoke up and asked about my patch was a geek/nerd.
Or ...as I was trying to point out in "Bartender's T-Shirt" - Star Wars has been around for so long it's deeply penetrated regular media, therefore one no longer needs to be heavily invested in Science Fiction or the pursuit of similar media to recognize something like a graphic from a Sci Fi movie.

'Bartender's t-shirt'
Made up of guns from various Sci-Fi movies of the last 2-3 decades - in the shape of a gun.
Myself and another try to name all the origins of each gun. A geek's trivia test really.
Or is it?
Have all these references been around long enough and mentioned enough in main-stream media that most folks have become familiar with ....the shape of Han Solo's gun. Or the rifle from the movie The Fifth Element?
I only wonder this because the 2 man band I'm presently listening to looks like someone's 'interesting' uncles ....loads of folks in his particular crowd (really into the actually very good music) look - in some cases - older than me, but are actually younger. The age of the band members, the undulating crowd, the pop culture references here and there and every few minutes ........- all accumulate making me feel closer to middle age.

...from Chad's mobile device.
